Technical Challenges

This is an asset that was originally for the TV show "See" on Paramount+. It's a scan of Jason Mamoa as the Baba Voss character. This asset was rushed, which meant it only needed rigging where it was required (the back and belly, mostly), but I thought it was a waste of a great character. I decided to rig it in my own pipeline, adding in a mouth and teeth so that I can rig a full face for this character. I was able to easily clean the model and migrate it into my own pipeline using scripts I've made and a maya plugin, Vetala. Some challenges I faced were due to the nature of how it originally came about, which would be rushed. One example was that there was no inner mouth geo, so I had to find a way to create the entire inside of the mouth and attach it to the original geometry, all while keeping the old skinning. I successfully did exactly that. Another challenge was creating a face rig, which is still a work in progress. I'll update this to include that once it's done! A fearless warrior: Baba Voss is the leader of the Alkenny Tribe, a skilled fighter, and a strong guardian. A family man: Baba Voss is the husband of Maghra and the adopted father of Kofun and Haniwa, twins with a dormant sense of sight. He prioritizes the safety of his family and tribe above all else. A secret: Baba Voss and Maghra keep the twins' sight a secret to protect them from the Witchfinders. They implore the twins to do the same for their own safety. A frequent advisor: Baba Voss seeks advice from Paris, who uses her wisdom to help him find ways to keep the tribe safe. A sacrifice: Baba sacrifices himself in a battle with Sibeth and Tormada by detonating a bomb that destroys them.

Future Plans

We've gone over the technical challenges and growth, the lore and background of the character, and now it's time to talk about the future! What are the plans for this guy and other characters like him? Well, I'm going to make video games with them - as best as I can! It's what I've wanted to do since I was 13 or 14 years old. So, that's what I'll do!
