Heron Rig

This was an auto-fly setup I made with a Wave deformer that uses sinusoidal waves. It works when using an FK Curve setup in the FK arms.

Here is the crown rig of the Heron, each feather on the head has a spine that's rigged. I automated this process with a little coding.

I made some blendshapes for eye pupil dilation and sharpening.

I added a lot of sub control and tweaking ability for each of the feathers, and controls each end, and middle, of each nurbsPlane setup in the wings (3 nurbsPlanes each).

Some issues I ran into were when the wings fold, the nurbsPlanes crash into one another. It takes the perfect angle to make sure they don't, which is why I added all those sub and tweak controls.

Here is a heron rig that I worked on. I automated the entire rig in Python + MEL. I used spring IK for the legs and arms, made a nurbsPlane setup for the wings, added a bunch of tweaking capabilities, even for the crown of the heron. Let me know what you think!
