About Me

Hello, I'm Mathias Villalobos. I've been rigging, developing pipelines, tools, auto-rigs, and more for the last 8 years. I've been passionate about film, television, and video games my whole life. I've helped great teams achieve marvelous things, from small to large studios. Professionally, I've worked on and contributed to many different incredible TV shows like The Boys, Umbrella Academy, HALO, Star Trek. I've worked on video games, like Clash of Clans and Storylines. On my spare time, I love to draw and bring concepts through modeling, rigging, and animation phases; while creating tools helps streamline the workflow, the game development brings the interactivity and feeling of life to the characters. I also enjoy writing stories for my characters, filling their background with deep lore.

Rigging TD

I have an extensive background in rigging, focusing on procedural approach. I enjoy working with Vetala because it's easy to organize your code in there, but I'm keen on making my own UI with my library of code I've made over the years. An excellent example of the kind of tools I make would be the Metahuman Editor, where we dive into the DNA file and extract the information used to build the rig. That means, we're able to edit the joints, blendshapes, pose drivers, geometry, vertices, everything! It's currently under development, but I plan on releasing it in 2025 for free.

Game Development

I think my biggest passion is video games. I've been dreaming of making video games since I was 12 years old. I wanted to bring the characters I would draw to life; have them walk around, pick things up, do battle, and more! These were the wishes that initially brought me to modeling, animation, rigging, coding, and everything that stems from those essential skills for game development. After my first Game Jam and then Internship, I experienced seeing others enjoy something I had contributed to, which was an unfamiliar, but most welcome feeling! The interactive aspect, immersion into new worlds, and sheer excitement from seeing your character brought to life; paired with others actually having a good time playing your game is an all-time high.
